August 2, 2007–The new Midnight Slam! program will include Rob Zombies remake of the 1978 John Carpenter horror classic Halloween — with a cast that includes Malcolm McDowell, Brad Dourif, Tyler Mane and Daeg Faerch, and Michael Davis Shoot Em Up starring Clive Owen, Paul Giamatti and Monica Bellucci.

The Midnight Slam! sidebar will feature helmer David Nerlichs Black Water, which will have its North American preem at the festival. Pic centers around three tourists in Australia and their guide attacked by a crocodile. Section will host the Canadian premieres of Pavel Ruminovs Dead Daughters, Brian Hooks Seventy Five, Roar Uthangs Cold Prey and Gabriele Albanesis The Last House in the Woods.

As previously announced, Midnight Slam! will host the world preems of Jed Weintrobs Scar and Laurent Couraus Predators. Scar is about the abduc-tion of teenagers and their torture in a morgue basement. Predators is an essay on dark mysticism. Program will also have the world preem of helmer Brett Sullivans The Chair.

The festival runs Aug. 23 to Sept. 3. The full line-up for the festival will be announced at a press conference Tuesday in Montreal.
