Oscar 2009: Hong Kong’s Entry Is Prince of Tears
Sep 10, 2009–Hong Kong has announced its film for consideration for the foreign-language film Oscar category.
Director-writer Yonfan's "Prince of Tears," which world premiered at the 2009 Venice Film Fest, is Hong Kong's selection. Produced by Fruit Chan, the film is about Taiwan's Communist witch hunt in the early 1950s, known as the white terror, in which thousands were executed.
The movie is a Far-Sun Film (Hong Kong) and Peony5 Film (Taiwan) production, with international sales handled by Fortissimo.
