Brad Pitt to Help Design and Build Luxury Hotel in Dubai
June 2, 2008–Brad Pitt is part of a team of consultants designing an 800-room, five-star hotel in the emirate, it was announced by U.A.E.-based property developers Zabeel.
L.A. architecture firm Graft, which worked with Pitt on developing 150 homes for families in New Orleans displaced by Hurricane Katrina, is designing the hotel and leisure development.
Work is already underway on the New Orleans properties with Pitt and producer Steve Bing both pledging $5 million towards the Make It Right project. The Dubai hotel's costs and construction dates were not revealed by Zabeel execs.
While acting is my career, architecture is my passion, said Pitt. Selecting this development as my first major construction project has been a simple decision. You can expect something that is not only stunning to look at but will also be an incredible attraction to visit or stay at.
Several U.S. film companies have announced major real estate plans with U.A.E. property developers. Universal, DreamWorks Animation, Paramount and Marvel are all building theme parks in Dubai.
