Best Friends (1982)
Warner
This personal tale of a screenwriting team was written by real-life married scenarists Barry Levinson and Valerie Curtin.
When first met, writers Richard Babson (Burt Reynolds) and Paula McCullen (Goldie Hawn) are lovers as well as collaborators. But then they decide to make their union legal.
Predictably, they discover that their relationship goes straight downhill after their marriage.
The two stars, Hawn and Reynolds, are pleaseant and there’s good cehimstry between them. But it’s the supporting cast, including Jessica Tandy and Barnard Hughes as Hawn’s parents, nx Audra Lindley and Keenan Wynn as Reynolds’ folks, which does the real acting.
In a small role, Ron Silver is impressive as a greedy producer.
